6th Grade Teacher
I obtained my Bachelor's of Science in Spanish in 2005 from UALR. Shortly after, I completed my Master's of Education from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona.
With my Master's degree, I am certified to teach PK-8 in all core subjects as well as ESL K-12.
I have participated in PLC conferences which have greatly enhanced my ability to reach kids at all levels and abilities. I have also participated in Choose Love which helps me meet the various social and emotional needs of my students. Due to my love of books, I have attended the Young Adult Author's Study at Harding University several times. During these sessions, I am able to meet fantastic authors of young adult books like Christopher Paul Curtis and S.A. Bodeen. These authors discuss each of their books, how teachers can use them in class as well as their personal writing process and tips for young writers.
This is my sixth year at Wilson Intermediate. I love teaching in the Malvern School District! I teach science, social studies, and heath.
I have taught in all types of schools throughout my career. My first teaching experience was in a private school in which I taught all subjects for 3 years in a split classroom of 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. Next, I taught Spanish to 5th, 6th, and 7th graders at Estem Public Charter School in Little Rock. For the next 6 years, I was a Literacy teacher as well as Creative Writing and Drama Club teacher in the Pulaski County Special School District. I taught at Sylvan Hills Middle School in North Little Rock for one year and at Chenal Elementary in Little Rock for 5 years. I am also a mom of two boys in the Malvern School District.
My husband and I have been married for 25 years. We have two fantastic boys, Jack, age 14, and Langston, age 9.
My family and I love to travel, especially to the beach. We take at least one beach trip a year as well as various other trips. My personal hobbies are reading, sleeping and photography. You will always see me with a book of some sort, especially at the beach.
